interesting. but it appears that the SS is not set at all,
but the gdtptr is changed, and there's only 1 16-bit entry,
in the last slot.

but i could have misread something. porting that code
to pae ended up to be a lot of code, so i just deleted it.
cinap's realemu is a good replacement, and it works in
64-bits as well. so i avoided rewriting that code yet again. :-)
